Randall's play behind the plate pays dividends for Aggies - NMSU The Round Up
She stepped up to the plate, her blonde hair and blue eyes hidden by her batting helmet. Petite frame and girl-next-door looks aside, she stared down the pitcher, waiting for the pitch. One wouldn't have thought she had just blasted three home runs the night before.Senior outfielder Kristi Randall is one of many driving forces this year on the Aggie Softball team. A native of Chula Vista in San Diego, Randall grew up as the eldest of seven children.
"It was a lot of babysitting," Randall joked. "A lot of family time."
Before her tenure as an Aggie, Randall was a multi-sport athlete at Bonita Vista High School. Randall played both softball and volleyball, but an injury during her junior year caused her to drop volleyball and become a full-time softball player.
Randall became an Aggie during a coaches recruiting tournament in Colorado.
"It just happened that they were looking for a leadoff and my name was somehow mentioned to them," Randall said.
