ANAHEIM - More than 40 years after the "It's A Small World" ride opened to promote peace and showcase the cultures of the world, Disney is populating one of its most beloved attractions with its own trademark vision of the planet: Aladdin, Nemo, Ariel and more than two dozen cartoon characters plucked from its movies. Move over, children of the globe -- it's a Disney world after all.

And those were not the only changes visitors found when the ride reopened Friday to the general public: Disney has woven a few bars from some of its hit soundtracks into the classic "Small World" melody and added a new America section that includes a nod to Los

How hard is to find parking space at Irvine Metrolink station if I want to take a train to LA in the morning?
Aug 11, 2007 by Tanya K | Posted in Los Angeles
I am planning to move to Irvine soon and my office is in LA downtown. I am trying to find the best way to get to work. MTA could be an answer to freeway traffic but I don't want to spend time looking for an empty parking space early in the morning.Maybe I should use some other MTA station?
It used to be wide open, but as more and more people are actually using the metrolink, it fills up pretty quick. You could drive up a bit to Tustin and catch it there.

What animals are at Irvine REgional Park?
Mar 23, 2008 by StAn | Posted in Los Angeles
I was in this park with a couple of friends setting off small fireworks and some sort of animal was making these weird sounds. It was like a high yell, somewhat catlike, but I suspect it might have been avian. we heard at least 3 different animals, because the noises were coming from different areas. when my friend imitated it, they would respond sometimes, and every time we set off a firework. any idea what they might have been?
There are all sorts of birds there, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, bobcats, squirrel, rabbits, etc. that live in and around the park...it really could have been anything. There also might be an occassional mountain lion that passes through there. What were you doing setting off fireworks there anyway..highly illegal!

Commuting from LA West Hollywood to Irvine for work time, cost, feasibility/avaliability, parking, car/subway?
Aug 15, 2008 by belgravia666 | Posted in Los Angeles
I'm thinking about commuting from LA either Downtown or West Hollywood to Irvine for work.
What are the time, cost, feasibility/avaliability (ie last train runs on during the week and weekends), parking both ways, transportation from train station to work and apt (both ways)?
Actually, you'll have to use Metrolink. See metrolinktrains.com for schedules (click on Orange County line).
Amtrak (Pacific Surfliner) also runs trains on the exact same route. Check their schedule as well to see if it works better. If you have a monthly metrolink pass, you can ride Amtrak trains between the same stations for free.
Of course, you'd have to take a bus and/or the red line subway to get from WeHo to Union Station.
