Projects pull out of other pockets - Modesto Bee
09.02.09
Looming budget cuts at the city-county building in downtown Modesto won't halt a mix of major government projects that have been in the works for years.
Modesto is bracing for a $10 million cut into its $120 million general fund. Stanislaus County, meanwhile, is looking at a $17.5 million spending reduction because of a prolonged drop in tax revenue to its general fund.
That account consists of cash government agencies collect from sales and property taxes, as well as other state funds with no restrictions on how they can be used.
That's why the money tends to go to general serv- ices, such as public safety and parks.
General funds are espe- cially vulnerable this year because of the drop in per- sonal spending, decline in property values and uncertainty over how or when the state will release cash.
Both the city and the county have access to other funds that give them more reliable revenue for specific services. Your sewer and water bill payments, for example, can only be used for sewer and water services.

Water Park near Modesto CA?
Sep 13, 2007 by MazdaRX7Racer | Posted in Other - United States
I live in Modesto CA 95358 and I'm looking for a water park in the area. I've tried yellowpages.com and didn't find anything, I kept seeing a commercial on tv about one but I can't find the paper that I wrote the info down on and I haven't seen the commercial in a long time. They advertised about a thing they called night slides if that helps. Anyone have any ideas?
The only place I know that advertised night slides was Golfland/Sunsplash in Rosevile. And seeing how Sacramento, Modesto & Lodi are in the same T.V viewing area, then that's most likely what you saw.

Apr 27, 2008 by Jack V | Posted in Sacramento
It is 160 miles from Modesto to Sequoia National Park and takes about 3 hours for the trip. For info on things to do in the park and details about the park visit their website at: http://www.nps.gov/seki
This is a very beautiful park probably most known for being the location of the largest redwood trees anywhere.
