Midfielder Sacha Kljestan scored all three U.S. goals, making him only the 12th player in the national team's 93-year history to score a hat trick.The Chivas USA player's first goal was the best of all, a swerving free kick from long range that fooled the Swedish defensive wall and goalkeeper Johan Dahlin.
"Free kicks are something that [Chivas USA Coach] Preki worked on with me a lot over the past year," Kljestan said, "I tried to focus a lot and tried to put the ball where I wanted, and it went there. Luckily, it went in."
Kljestan, 23, had been with Scottish champion Celtic for a few days before the match, amid rumors of a multimillion-dollar offer being contemplated for the Huntington Beach player.
"As far as Celtic, I just took it as a training experience and whatever happens, happens," he said. "I'm not trying to think about that right now."
