FLORENCE — No one knew her secret — not until much later when she managed to work her way out of it.“I was homeless. I went to work everyday, but nobody knew it,” said Bonnie Enriquez, CEO and founder of No Room at the Inn, which she plans to open in the area in the near future.
Loaves & Fishes executive director Don Farr said there are 59 homeless people in Fremont County, according to a Point in Time Survey conducted in January.
“We counted 35 adults and 24 children” in the system in Fremont County, he said.
However, Enriquez said homeless do not participate in the census or surveys.
Causes of homelessness include loss of jobs, medical emergencies and lack of affordable housing.
HUD defines homelessness as an individual who lacks a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence; living in a shelter or an institution or a person who sleeps in a place, not meant for human habitation.
